An actual icon for the app would be nice :D (currently it's just the default android application icon)

Something must have gone wrong on your install, the icon should be the same as the one on the upper right side of this site (and my avatar)...

Anyone else not seeing the proper aMPdroid icon?

Ah, i think you did not include a low resolution version of the icon, could that be? I have only a HTC Wildfire (240x320 icon). As far as I know you can define several icons for different resolutions?
